SMS Consent & Messaging Program
Effective April 6, 2026
1. Program Overview
Brand name: Ohana Mobility
Ohana Mobility operates a vehicle-sharing platform for luxury resorts, hotels, and coastal properties. We use SMS exclusively for transactional and service-related messages. We do not send marketing or promotional SMS messages.
Message types include:
- One-time passcodes (OTP) for phone number sign-in and identity verification
- Booking confirmation and receipt notifications
- Trip start and trip end confirmations
- Late return reminders when a booking approaches or passes its end time
- Service alerts (e.g., vehicle unavailability, booking changes initiated by the property)
All messages are transactional in nature and are directly related to actions the recipient has taken on the Ohana Mobility platform.
2. How Consent Is Collected
Ohana Mobility collects SMS consent through two explicit steps during user registration and sign-in. Consent is never inferred, pre-checked, or bundled with other agreements.
Step 1 — Phone Sign-In Disclosure
When a user enters their phone number on the sign-in screen and taps "Send Code by SMS", the following disclosure is displayed inline directly below the button, before the code is sent:
"By tapping 'Send Code by SMS,' you agree to receive texts from Ohana Mobility at this number — including verification codes and booking updates. Message frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Text STOP to opt out, HELP for help."
This disclosure is visible before the user taps the button and before any message is sent. The act of tapping "Send Code by SMS" constitutes affirmative consent at this step.
Step 2 — Registration SMS Consent Checkbox
During account registration, users are presented with a separate SMS consent checkbox that is unchecked by default. The checkbox label reads:
"I consent to receive SMS messages from Ohana Mobility, including booking confirmations, trip alerts, and service notifications. Message frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out."
The user must actively check this box to provide consent for ongoing booking and service notifications. The checkbox state and timestamp are recorded server-side at the time of account creation.
